The four-year marriage between sungura superstar Alick Macheso and Tafadzwa Fortunate Mapako has crumbled.
Impeccable sources revealed that it is all over between the two who have two children in their short marriage. However, there are reports that Macheso is doubting if he is indeed the father of the said two children.
The musician also has five children with his first wife, Nyadzisai who is better known as Mai Shero.
This is Tafadzwa's THIRD failed marriage after two others failed prior to getting married to Macheso. Reports are that Tafadzwa and macheso divorced more than three months ago and were just having photo shoots together to appear as if all was well.
"I can confirm that the marriage between Tafadzwa and Macheso is now water under the bridge. The two are no longer in love. Tafadzwa is currently busy processing court papers for maintenance," said the source privy to the goings-on at Macheso's family and musical camp.
Another confidante of Machesos yesterday said the marriage between the two had ended some months ago.
"Yes, I can confirm that Macheso and Tafadzwa are no longer together. Their marriage is over but Macheso is supporting Tafadzwa and their two children," said the source.
Our mole said Tafadzwa had been abusive in the marriage and was always threatening Macheso and his family.
"Tafadzwa would always call threatening Macheso if her demands were not met. She would use people to call Macheso and Nyadzisai (Macheso's first wife), threatening her and that always placed Macheso at ransom. Macheso has never been happy in this relationship," said the mole.
The source said Tafadzwa would always refer to her close linkage to notorious armed robbers so as to make Macheso put his tail between the legs.
"Tafadzwa would always talk of her relationship with her now late ex notorious robber Major Sanyati and how he was quick to shoot at his victims. She would also talk of her relationship with top cops and members of the dreaded Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) as her friends who befriended her while handling her cases with armed robbers,' added the source.
Further reports are that Macheso turned against his own family because of Tafadzwa.
"Macheso had turned against his family and hated them because of Tafadzwa but I believe the love potion (mupfuhwira) has expired. Tafadzwa made everyone's life miserable and was the reason behind Nyadzisai's BP and the two miscarriages. Even Nyadzisai's daughter (Sharon) suffered from hypertension at one point while Tafadzwa was living lavish.
"Nyadzisai, her family and Macheso himself, have just been suffering silently as queen Tafadzwa controlled everything. She has lied to Macheso from the day they met and he only found out the truth about her after marriage. Her first child is doing A-Level this year but she denied ever having a child when she first met Macheso. She claimed that she was born with a twin and her mother died right after child-birth but her many siblings started coming into the picture when she settled with Macheso," said the source.
Another informant also said Tafadzwa has been the sole figure behind the 'collapse' of Macheso's band.
"Tafadzwa was an authoritarian. She is the reason why Macheso lost key band members. She would dictate how the band was run and that saw some senior band members leaving the Mberikwazvo band," said the informant.
Tafadzwa could not be reached for comment as she was said to be always changing phone numbers while Macheso was not reachable as he was having a show.
Tafadzwa first married a teacher named Thomas Mayisiwa Matsapa when she finished her O-levels in 1996. She had one child in the marriage before it collapsed. The marriage did not last as Tafadzwa ditched the teacher and went to Harare to search for 'greener pastures'.
She then married one notorious robber Shepherd Samanenji Mhizha who was known as major Sanyati in his robberies. When Major Sanyati was jailed in 2005, Tafadzwa moved on with her life. When the robber was released from prison, their relationship would be on and off as Major Sanyati was always on the move terrorising people.
Then Tafadzwa eventually married Macheso in a widely publicised union that coincided with the release of hit song 'Tafadzwa Nyarara' by Macheso.
