Zimbabwe Under Zanu PF Leadership

Zimbabwe under Zanu PF leadership By Eugene Majuru
The struggle for democratic change and good governance in Zimbabwe is continuing. This is proving to be difficult with Robert Mugabe still clinging to power and rigging the elections year after year. The Movement For Democratic change (MDC) is trying to bring change to Zimbabwe but those who are working for this change are continuously being targeted and harassed.
The hardship, poverty and suffering of the people under the brutal dictator Robert Mugabe has seen many deaths and journalists are being targeted when they report these issues.  There is no freedom of speech and people are living in constant fear. Even the land line telephone network is being closely monitored and people are not free to talk on the phones anymore and have to wait to communicate face to face. The people of Zimbabwe are suppressed, oppressed and powerless.  Many families are failing to make ends meet, they are experiencing severe hardships. This has also created problems such as prostitution and the increase of HIV/AIDS Mugabe has robbed people of their democracy and right to life. It is sad to note that the dictator and his regime continue to ignore the reality in Zimbabwe – cholera, abductions and not honouring the their obligations as outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the subsequent Global Political Agreement (GPA) which was signed by the MDC President Morgan Tsvangirai, the winner of the March, 29 2008 harmonised elections who is prepared to share power with Robert Mugabe and his ZANU PF party – the losers, for the sake of progress and for the sake of the masses of Zimbabwean people who are suffering.
Robert Mugabe has ignored cries from his people to step down, he is clinging onto power and  believes that Zimbabwe belongs to him and his family. He wants to rule till his death because he fears what will happen to him when no longer in power.  Zimbabwe’s economy has deteriorated with the rate of inflation at its worst in worldwide history. Life for the middle income and low earners is a nightmare as people are now living hand to mouth. These problems are fuelled by shortages of food, basic commodities which are now forcing Zimbabweans to travel out of the country and buy these items from neighbouring countries such as Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia and South Africa.
Once the breadbasket of Africa, this wonderful country has now become a living hell. This has affected the health industry, the banking sector, farming and people’s way of life. The life expectancy has been reduced to 34.
