We publish an exclusive, but deeply-flawed list of prospective students recruited by the National University of Science and Technology of Bulawayo for the 2012/13 academic year.

The list shows that almost 98 percent of students recruited by Matabeleland’s main university are from outside the region, exclusively Shona while local students are left out in the cold.
The list demonstrates some social-political ills and inequalities largely skewed on tribal lines in Zimbabwe. Precisely, this punctuates Robert Mugabe’s misrule that has sort to exclude Ndebele speaking peoples of Zimbabwe from the country's mainstream economy.
Social scientists have all agreed that excluding a group from accessing education is excluding that group from equal participation in the economy, for instance, Fraser (1998, 2000), Young, (1998).
There has been unsubstantiated claims that Ndebele students were not academically gifted, however, there is evidence that many Ndebele students who have left the country because of frustration to pursue their studies elsewhere, were doing pretty good.
The claim that Ndebele students were academically ungifted is unscientific and cheap, moreso reflects the pedestrian character of Zimbabwean politics.
This points to a problematic socio-political and socioeconomic systems of post-colonial Zimbabwe that have sought to misframe Ndebele people of Zulu origin, hence stigmatise them.
The issue requires attention from authorities to prevent it from hot-festering.
MDC-N leader Prof Welshman Ncube has on many occasions called for equal opportunities in recruitment of students.

we are more than 20% or 1 in 5 of the population, i would hardly call that " Very small". , remember they is also a Ndebele population found in Midlands province, not Just Bulawayo, Matland South and Matland North.
ADMORE, we expect better reporting than this!
Unless its your intention, please, shame those affirming to be tribalists, especially, (#33-#37). They are all out of their hiding places (woodworks), and feel at home on reading the article.
What is required to put them back where they belong, you must publish the following :
(1) NUST's required entry marks (achievements),
(ii) Names and qualifications of Ndebele students denied or
were not admitted at the institution and the
(iii) Shona students who despite their low qualifications
got a place at NUST .
Modern Zimbabwe is made up of assimilated/acculturated people with no supremacists laying claim to is it.
Article promoting tribalism are a negative reflection on the author(s). Small minds explain everything in terms of isms.
I am glad that the Ndebeles came and took your land, we will never leave our population grows as we speak.
Viva Mthwakazi.

with what you have done so far (excellent job), publish the qualification being demanded by NUST for entry into these degree courses plus the names of the qualified students from Matebeleland not admitted..
Unless you do that you are forcing us to feed on our own preconceived ideas (prejudices), or those of the writer. So, please, do that for an informed audience.
