Bulawayo Night is on Saturday 16 August

By Correspondent

The long awaited Annual Bulawayo Night is only a few days away.

The event has been happening on annual basis since its launch and establishment in 2000. Hence, it has grown over the years from a small scale to almost industrial levels attracting hundreds.

The event was initial set up as way of thanking the Bulawayo people for their continued support over the years for the Black Boys (Dj Gqwetha & Bongani). The two sprung into fame in the early 1990. The event has since now grown to attract people from all walks of life.

One of the organisers said even though the event is entitled Bulawayo Night, it is an event for everyone “because we have been supported by  people from all over  Zimbabwe our country of origin, the neighbouring countries and  other nationalities. On the other hand this event also comes out as an educative tool to those who do not know Bulawayo as the flyer itself lists all the suburbs of Bulawayo as a city”.

“This year’s Bulawayo Night is also incorporating the birthday celebration of Dj Gqwetha and also 22 years he has been a Dj and a promoter. There will also be other birthday celebrations including Nkosie’s and Mlu the ‘Commander’ a die-hard Bulawayo born Comrade, “ one of the organisers said.

Also incorporated in this year’s Bulawayo night will be a (BRING YOUR OWN MEAT BBQ) which is scheduled to start from 4pm until 10pm with children allowed.

“Expect to hear an all-round 90s music session during the BBQ. The party will then progress to an indoor all night fun filled event featuring all the latest music club bangers carefully selected by top Djs,” the organiser added.

“Exciting enough is that the party doesn’t stop here, it will progress to an after party at the most happening Sunday BBQ hosted by King Alfred of New Generation where the ticket holders of the Bulawayo Night will be allowed free entry before 4pm.The BBQ after Party is Scheduled to start from 3pm to 12midnight,”.

“I must say this is a perfect full weekend package at a very give away price and looking at the Dj line up and having attended the past ones, myself I am not one to miss this one. Advance tickets are going out for £10 and covers entrance to the Bulawayo Night event Sat 16 August 4pm till 4am  @ DeJoint AL10 0NL Hatfield and the BBQ after party Sunday 17 Aug  3pm till midnight @ Dunstable Family BBQ Bedford road LU5 6JW “.
